Day 18 - Sensational Easter Sunday

WOW what a day. The weather forecast wasn't that great and I thought we mightn't even get to the garden. How wrong they were. I had a bit of a sleep in today which was awesome then the perfect Easter Sunday breakfast - homemade Hot Cross Buns with lashings of butter and apple jelly.

Naw, then we got photos and video of Lachlan's first Easter Egg Hunt... how cool indeed.

I am so chuffed that Lachlan loves this rabbit. Back in March 2018, not long after he was born Mum asked me to take her shopping. She was so sure of what she wanted. She looked at all the soft toys. It was so interesting listening to her explain to the lady in the shop exactly what she wanted. It had to be soft to cuddle, and easy for Lachlan to hold onto and drag around. All of the bears were quickly discarded. This rabbit was exactly what she wanted... So precious that this link exists between Mum and Lachlan. This sent me off down memory lane finding photos...

Then it was time to head out to the garden. I headed right out the back today, determined to tidy up the patch where we planted the cordyline years ago. WOW what a mess it is out here, just so overgrown and so full of self seeded sycamore and ivy.

We stopped for a break and had a snack in the sun. A monarch spent quite some time fluttering around.

We split up all of the black grasses and planted them around the next tier... they look so darn good. Lots more work to fix and extend the watering systems too.

Then it was time for the highlight of the day. Family FaceTime....

How lucky are we all that this isolation time is happening now and not years ago. FaceTime is almost as good as being together... well it is a very good second. Loved our time in the sun, hanging out with the family and reading Wonky Donkey....

Agh, a walk around the garden tonight leaves me in awe again of all we have achieved... teehee and also, of how much more there is to do.... roll on tomorrow....

And an awesome tradition, Easter Sunday Roast to end the day. DELICIOUS, with most of the vegetables from our garden, and the rolled roast beef from Jason and Gabi's cow. This time of isolation is such an incredible time to use what we have, in the freezer, the garden and the cupboards...
